Beat the Letter Back to the game עברית

Licences

Beat the Letter is built almost entirely out of other people’s work, given away for free. This page says whose, and under what terms. Nothing here asks anything of you as a player — it exists because the licences ask it of us.

The libraries

These are the ones the game loads in your browser. Each carries its own licence, and every one of them is permissive: they allow the code to be used, changed and redistributed, including in something like this.

React and React DOMMIT
FirebaseApache 2.0
React RouterMIT
ZustandMIT
i18next and react-i18nextMIT
MotionMIT
web-vitalsApache 2.0

Those bring dependencies of their own. All told, 110 packages ship in the game’s bundle, under five licences — Apache 2.0, MIT, BSD 3-Clause, ISC and 0BSD. All five are permissive; none of them is copyleft, and none of them puts any obligation on somebody playing a game.

The build itself uses more — TypeScript, Vite, Astro, oxlint, Vitest — but none of that reaches your browser, so none of it is listed here.

The type

Set in Suez One for headings and Assistant for everything else, both served by Google Fonts and both released under the SIL Open Font License. Both were drawn with Hebrew and Latin in one family, which is the reason this game can switch languages without changing how it looks.

The music

Song data and the thirty-second previews come from Deezer. Playlists are created on Spotify, and playback happens there. The game hosts, streams and sells no music, and claims nothing over any of it — every recording belongs to the people who made it.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, or your work is used and not named, that is a mistake rather than a position. Write to maty@michalsky.co and it will be fixed.
